Details

The AI team at ABN AMRO is looking for an AI Techlead with a strong passion for Generative AI (GenAI), an innovative outlook, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The role focuses on designing and implementing GenAI solutions across the bank, covering the full development cycle from exploration and prototyping to building scalable products. Candidates are expected to be adaptable full-stack developers with deep affinity and experience in Generative AI and its latest innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee development and implementation of (Gen)AI use cases in collaboration with project leads.
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for AI projects.
  • Work across the full development cycle: exploring/identifying opportunities, experimenting, creating prototypes, and developing scalable products.
  • Deliver engineering solutions across Backend and Frontend, and work with LLMs and agentic AI approaches depending on use case needs.
  • Coach junior/medior AI engineers to develop their full-stack skills and provide daily coaching for juniors.
  • Act as the go-to expert for resolving complex technical challenges and guide technical decisions.

Working environment

  • Part of the AI Team in the Innovation division based in Amsterdam with a start-up vibe and an open team atmosphere.
  • Team size: 25+ people with a passion for AI; initiative is encouraged and hybrid working is offered.
  • Projects span customer contact (e.g., voicebot) to document interaction improvements using GenAI.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 5+ years of full-stack developer experience combined with experience building end-to-end (Gen)AI solutions.
  • Excellent proficiency in Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop AI solutions with a product mindset, aligning technical execution with user needs, business goals, and measurable success metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business problems into tangible AI solutions.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders; able to lead technically while coding alongside the team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, pragmatic and value-focused (willingness to leverage existing solutions to reduce time-to-market).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest AI developments and ability to guide others to optimal solutions.

Benefits

  • Competitive yearly salary ranging from EUR 65,000 – EUR 90,000 all-in annual salary based on 36 hours with the possibility to work 40 hours (pro-rated).
  • 11% of the above salary is benefit budget, which can be spent on additional fringe benefits or paid out as general salary.
  • Personal development budget of EUR 1,000 per year.
  • Public transportation card for business and private use.
  • A solid pension plan and a variety of special leaves.
  • Flexible hours, room to grow both personally and professionally, and hybrid working opportunities.
