Business Architect Wholesale & Rural Innovation

As the Business Architect for Wholesale & Rural (W&R) Innovation, you will lead and advance the global business and IT architecture and strategy for W&R Innovation, a department with 100 employees.

You and your job

In this role, you will collaborate closely with business development (BD) teams for the discovery and market fit phases, product development (PD) teams for solution and market fit phases, and colleagues of the W&R Tribes for handover and to prepare scale-up. You will:

  • Play a pivotal role in aligning with business colleagues on their innovation needs and shape the future by deciding on the just-in-time and just-enough architecture;
  • Drive the solution-building phase by aligning with the strategic target architecture of the receiving tribe or the potential new venture. Each architecture choice is made transparent, and any deviations from the target architecture is explained;
  • Coach and collaborate with the Solution Architects of the W&R Innovation department;
  • Facilitate collaboration with and a smooth handover to the tribe, ensuring a robust foundation for future growth.

Top responsibilities

  • Participate in the innovation processes and experiments and contribute broad IT and business knowledge
  • Delivery of Target Architectures, PSAs and architecture decision documentation to guide the innovation process
  • Bridge the gaps between business and IT and between Innovation and the Tribes
  • Aligning with other innovations outside W&R Innovation, such as in Retail NL

Examples of innovation initiatives and the role of the architect

  • Writing the target architecture for location-based use cases and selecting a GIS (Geographic Information System) vendor.
  • Design of architectures for the Voluntary Carbon Credit (VCC) market, including Acorn, which addresses CO2 sequestration supply and demand, and VCC Brokerage, where Rabobank helps buyers find high-quality VCCs.
  • Establishing the architecture for sustainability-linked loans and UFCP (Unfunded Credit Risk Participation), balancing the flexibility of Innovation with the target architecture of the receiving Tribe.

Together we achieve more than alone

We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together people's differences is what makes us an even better bank. So, we are very curious about what you can bring to our team at Wholesale & Rural Business Architecture.

"As a Business Architecture team we aim to have an integrated approach with processes, IT and Business to find sustainable and future-proof solutions and business value for our organization and customers." - Lizel Groenewald, Business Architect Processes.

More than 100 colleagues in the business architecture department are responsible for the development, maintenance and enforcement of the IT strategy and architecture of Rabobank, to realize an effective long-term direction for IT in support of the bank’s strategy – in commercial, efficiency and risk perspective. Working together is the way we work; as 1 effective team at Rabobank. Talking of Rabobank: We are a Dutch bank that operates in 38 countries for over 9,500,000 customers. Together with these customers, our members and partners we stand side by side to create a world in which everyone has access to enough healthy food. In the Netherlands we work to create a country in which people are happy with how they live, work and do business.
