Information about the position

Join Vinted's Category Management team, where we drive Vinted’s expansion into new categories and the improvement of existing ones. Our team focuses on understanding, developing and expanding the structure of our catalog. We work closely with Product teams across Vilnius and Berlin to ensure that our category tree and navigation tools fulfill the needs of our members and are easy to use.

Next to the Category Management team, you will be a part of the cross-domain Data Science & Analytics (DSA) guild where you will interact and learn from all data people in Vinted. Within DSA, we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similar business impact in different ways, and therefore, our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To understand your role within DSA context better, here are brief descriptions of each role we have in the department:

  • Decision Scientists are responsible for generating actionable insights and identifying and scoping opportunities. They maintain and contribute to automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision-making.
  • Data Scientists are responsible for the identification of algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and designing, developing and maintaining production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.
  • Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation – translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.

In this position, you’ll

  • Analyse questions and identified opportunities relating to category changes and improvements to understand their scope and impact
  • Enable your team and direct stakeholders to independently leverage data for business insights via self-serving and dashboarding tools (Looker)
  • Collaborate with Taxonomists to enable them to use a data-driven approach to Taxonomy Design and category structure
  • Define the requirements for (A/B) testing, ensure the features have appropriate tracking, and analyse the results of tests and experiments
  • Support the Ontologies Platform (engineering) team to answer their data analytics questions
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders

About you

  • Demonstrated working experience as a Decision Scientist, Analyst, or other role with a strong data component (typically 2+ years of working experience).
  • Strong background in statistics (modelling, experimentation).
  • Strong business results orientation with the ability to connect scientific approaches with pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills to present results persuasively to various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (preferably Python).
  • Fluency in SQL and experience with dashboarding tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau).
  • A graduate degree in statistics, econometrics, economics, business, or a related quantitative field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
