Working environment

We are the Product Data Practice department, part of the Data Domains of Accounts, Savings & Transactions, and Insurances (AST&I), to support implementation of the bank’s federated data governance model. The AST&I Data Domains are within the Transaction Banking product unit, which covers a vast portfolio of products: accounts, payment cards, packages, savings, insurances, open banking APIs, trade finance, digital products like Apple Pay/ Google Pay, and associated sales, business & risk management processes. We contribute significantly to the revenue of the bank, manage different regulatory and operational topics, and contribute to Objectives and Key Results set for the Personal & Business Banking Client Unit, serving about 6 million Personal & Business Banking customers.

We also act as change agents to embed a data driven mindset at all levels of the organization enabling them to harness full potential of the data that we have, thereby strengthening data maturity and literacy in the bank.

Your job

In your role as a Data Scientist, you will:

  • Expand the scope of Advanced Analytics and AI, developing cases that leverage the latest emerging technologies, fostering an innovative environment.
  • Engage in complex long-term projects, with focus on continuous delivery in small increments.
  • Understand different advanced data techniques and identify suitable ones that can help answering the question.
  • Stay curious and up to date with trends of technologies, advanced analytics, GenAI and cloud platforms (Databricks).
  • Conduct data experiments on different datasets (products, transactions, channels, customers, CRM/ sales).
  • Work both in individual contributor roles (leading project) and in collaboration / co-creating with multiple data scientists, data analysts, data engineers and machine learning engineers.
  • Extract actionable insights from large data sources, perform recurring or ad hoc analyses / reports.
  • Act as a data sparring partner with business stakeholders on smart KPIs & reports, with relevant insights for the right audience.
  • Translate business challenges into data questions, understand underlying processes for various products & services, and connect the dots.
  • Engage and guide non-technical stakeholders and team members on Advanced Analytics cases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage different stakeholders.
  • Practice the art of storytelling through numbers and effective visualization techniques.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and automation of existing deliverables.
  • Organize your work in a structured manner and effectively communicate to all parties involved.
  • Remain proactive in coming up with ideas to improve/ solve (technical/ business/ data) challenges.

Your profile

Do you think you are a fit? Check your qualifications:

  • Degree in STEM or economics/business, with an analytics focus.
  • 6-8 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in data science field.
  • Exhibit high level of proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PySpark, SQL and coding best practices.
  • Experience with Advance Analytics techniques (Forecasting, Prediction, Cluster Analysis, Machine Learning, Generative AI), and eagerness to learn and develop in that area.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English (and Dutch).
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau.
