Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company building observability tools used by millions globally. This role is a remote position based in Germany. The Director of Product Management will develop vision and strategy for the Data Collection, Transformation, and Ingestion product domain, align multiple teams around priorities, and ensure product decisions support customer outcomes and Grafana Labs’ business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and strategy for Data Collection, Transformation, and Ingestion as a core platform capability for Grafana Cloud.
  • Lead product strategy for systems and experiences that help customers generate, collect, transform, and ingest telemetry data into Grafana Cloud and make that data available for fast, reliable, cost-effective querying.
  • Align multiple engineering teams and product areas across the full telemetry journey: telemetry generation and instrumentation, collection, transformation, ingestion, and querying.
  • Partner closely with senior R&D leaders to align product and technical strategy, make tradeoffs, and balance customer value, platform leverage, operational excellence, and business impact.
  • Use customer research, product analytics, competitive insight, and business context to identify high-impact problems and prioritize roadmaps.
  • Define how AI should influence the domain: assist instrumentation, configure collection, transform telemetry, control cost, improve data quality, query more efficiently, and troubleshoot ingestion issues.
  • Build relationships with customers and prospects (technical buyers and observability practitioners) and support GTM teams on product differentiation, positioning, packaging, and launch.
  • Manage and coach a team of Product Managers: set strategy, prioritize work, develop product judgment, and support career growth.
  • Communicate product direction, tradeoffs, and outcomes clearly to customers, senior leadership, and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • Significant Product Management experience, including leading product strategy across multiple teams, product areas, or complex technical workflows.
  • Experience directly managing Product Managers (coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, career development).
  • Strong technical fluency in infrastructure, cloud platforms, observability, telemetry, data pipelines, high-scale databases, or other developer/infrastructure product domains.
  • Strong product instincts around AI and experience identifying where AI can create meaningful customer value for technical users (developers, SREs, platform teams, infrastructure teams).
  • Strong customer empathy, strategic judgment, and ability to translate complex customer problems into clear product strategy and roadmap priorities.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills; experience influencing Engineering, Design, Technical Writing, Developer Advocacy, Analytics, Product Marketing, GTM, and executives.
  • Ability to create clarity in ambiguity and operate effectively in a globally distributed, remote-first environment.
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
