Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company building observability tools used globally. As a Director on the Product Management team, you will develop vision and strategy for a broad product domain (Data Collection, Transformation, and Ingestion), align multiple teams around priorities, own the roadmap, and ensure product decisions support customer outcomes and business objectives. You will manage Product Managers, work closely with Engineering and cross-functional partners, and help define how AI should influence product experiences for technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the product vision and strategy for Data Collection, Transformation, and Ingestion as a core platform capability for Grafana Cloud
  • Lead product strategy for systems and experiences that help customers generate, collect, transform, and ingest telemetry data into Grafana Cloud and make that data available for querying
  • Align multiple engineering teams around clear priorities and multi-quarter roadmaps, balancing customer value, platform leverage, operational excellence, and business impact
  • Use customer research, product analytics, and competitive insight to identify highest-impact problems
  • Define how AI should influence this domain (instrumentation, collection configuration, telemetry transformation, cost control, data quality, query efficiency, troubleshooting)
  • Build relationships with customers and technical buyers; help GTM teams understand differentiation, product value, AI relevance, and positioning
  • Coach, develop, hire, and manage Product Managers; create high-accountability, high-trust environment for PMs and cross-functional teams
  • Shape product experiences spanning OpenTelemetry SDKs/instrumentation, Grafana Beyla, OpenTelemetry Collector, Grafana Alloy, Adaptive Telemetry, and Grafana databases (Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope)

Requirements

  • Significant Product Management experience, including leading product strategy across multiple teams or complex technical workflows
  • Experience directly managing Product Managers (coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, career development)
  • Strong technical fluency in infrastructure, cloud platforms, observability, telemetry, data pipelines, high-scale databases, or other developer/infrastructure product domains
  • Strong product instincts around AI and the ability to identify where AI can create meaningful customer value for technical users (developers, SREs, platform teams)
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills; experience influencing Engineering, Design, Technical Writing, Developer Advocacy, Analytics, Product Marketing, GTM, and executive stakeholders
  • Strong customer empathy and strategic judgment; ability to translate complex customer problems into clear product strategy and roadmap priorities
  • Ability to create clarity in ambiguity and operate effectively in a globally distributed, remote-first environment
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred / Bonus

  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana Alloy, Grafana Mimir, Grafana Loki, Grafana Tempo, and/or Grafana Pyroscope
  • Experience with ETL, telemetry pipelines, large-scale data processing, sampling, filtering, enrichment, routing, or cost/performance optimization
  • Experience with high-scale databases, distributed systems, or big data platforms
  • Experience building AI-enabled product experiences for technical users and agent-facing product design
  • Experience at an open source or commercial open source company
  • Experience partnering with GTM teams on positioning, packaging, pricing, and launch strategy
