Details
Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company with a global user base and commercial offerings (Grafana Cloud and Grafana Enterprise Stack) that support scalable metrics (Grafana Mimir), logs (Grafana Loki), and traces (Grafana Tempo). This role is remote and targeted to candidates in the United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own the product vision and strategy for Data Collection, Transformation, and Ingestion as a core platform capability for Grafana Cloud.
- Define roadmap priorities and align multiple teams around clear objectives that balance customer value, platform leverage, operational excellence, and business impact.
- Use customer research, product analytics, and competitive insight to identify high-impact problems to solve.
- Define how AI should influence the domain (instrumentation, collection, transformation, cost control, data quality, querying, and troubleshooting).
- Build relationships with customers and technical buyers, and help GTM teams understand product differentiation, roadmap direction, AI relevance, and market positioning.
- Coach and manage a team of Product Managers: set strategy, support prioritization, provide feedback, and drive career development.
- Partner with senior R&D leaders and cross-functional partners (Engineering, Design, Technical Writing, Developer Advocacy, Analytics, Product Marketing, GTM) to align product and technical strategy and ensure coherent launch and enablement plans.
- Shape the product experience for telemetry generation, collection, transformation, ingestion, and querying across metrics, logs, traces, and profiles.
Requirements
- Significant Product Management experience, including leading product strategy across multiple teams, product areas, or complex technical workflows.
- Experience directly managing Product Managers, including coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, and career development.
- Strong technical fluency in infrastructure, cloud platforms, observability, telemetry, data pipelines, and high-scale databases or distributed systems.
- Strong product instincts around AI and experience identifying where AI can create meaningful customer value in technical products used by developers, SREs, platform teams, or infrastructure teams.
- Strong customer empathy and strategic judgment; ability to translate complex customer problems into clear product strategy and roadmap tradeoffs.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills with experience influencing Engineering, Design, Technical Writing, Developer Advocacy, Analytics, Product Marketing, GTM, and executive stakeholders.
- Ability to create clarity in ambiguity and operate effectively in a globally distributed, remote-first environment.
- A BS/BA in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Domain specifics called out in the role
- Ownership of systems and experiences for telemetry generation, collection, transformation, ingestion, and querying (OpenTelemetry SDKs and instrumentation libraries, Grafana Beyla, OpenTelemetry Collector, Grafana Alloy).
- Work with Adaptive Telemetry and Grafana Labs’ telemetry databases (Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope) to support high-scale ingestion and querying.
- Ensure support for opinionated integrated solutions (Frontend Observability, Application Observability, Kubernetes Observability) and flexible hosted offerings.
- Consider AI-driven experiences for instrumentation, collection/configuration, transformation, cost/quality optimization, troubleshooting, and agent-facing workflows.
Bonus / Nice-to-have
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana Alloy, Grafana Mimir, Grafana Loki, Grafana Tempo, and/or Grafana Pyroscope.
- Experience with ETL, telemetry pipelines, large-scale data processing, sampling, filtering, enrichment, routing, or cost/performance optimization.
- Experience with high-scale databases, distributed systems, or big data platforms.
- Experience building AI-enabled product experiences for technical users and agent-facing product design.
- Experience working at an open source or commercial open source company.
- Experience partnering with GTM teams on positioning, packaging, pricing, launch strategy, or field enablement.
- Experience leading product strategy for platform capabilities that serve multiple product lines or customer segments.
Compensation & Benefits
- In the UK, the base compensation range for this role is GBP 143,566 - 172,279. Roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
