Job Description

ING Domestic Bank Netherlands is looking for a Domain Architect Know Your Customer (KYC) in the Customer Data Domain area.

As Domain Architect KYC, you will be responsible for the architecture of application solutions related to Know Your Customer (FEC, FATCA and CRS). This includes:

  • Modules facilitating the KYC step during the onboarding of new customers or upgrading existing customers (both individuals and organizations).
  • KYC Event Management applications, including event assessment and follow-up actions like remediation, ringfencing, or offboarding customers.
  • KYC Periodic Review Applications
  • Applications supporting customer outreach processes (beyond just KYC contexts).
  • Generic applications supporting product lifecycle management processes in checking customer qualifications for KYC and other aspects.
  • Generic application modules facilitating customer journey invitations.
  • Data integration with monitoring and screening engines, leading to more meaningful actions/events for employees and customers (e.g., minimizing false positives).
  • Integration with external ING systems likes KvK, BKR, TMNL etc
  • Various management and operational reports build on data marts/warehouse technologies
  • Analytics and AI enabling NextGen customer monitoring.
  • KYC data foundation empowering intelligent digital processes.

The current KYC application landscape around KYC consists of a mix of legacy and target NL and global (still evolving) applications which the coming years incrementally need to be transitioned to a more simplified target application landscape to which efficiently support the KYC processes for Domestic Bank Netherlands

Within ING we strive for a loosely coupled and scalable architecture, that is adaptive to change in an Agile Scrum context with sufficient decouple points. The implementation dependency roadmap for the upcoming quarters balance feasibility to implement and ambition to move towards our strategic target architecture. Non-functional requirements (e.g. security and resilience) are taken into account.

Domain Architects are expected to collaborate with our business colleagues (to understand -and challenge- the requirements), Enterprise Architects, Platform Architects, other Domain Architects, IT Solutions Architects, IT managers and Dev/Ops teams to bring the application landscape further towards the target.

This is what you’ll be doing

As the Domain Architect for KYC, you will guide the NL Business and IT delivery teams in the design, dependencies and the transition towards the target.

You take responsibility to define reference and transition architecture designs (based on business requirements) for the applications in your domain and provide guidance to solution architects and engineers on execution according to architectural design. Temporary deviations are registered as debts and monitored.

You’ll be working in a small team of architects and with all relevant stakeholders of the domain. On a larger scale you are member of the Center of Expertise Architects in ING Domestic Bank Netherlands. When applicable you will work with ING colleagues from other (also global) areas to ensure alignment. Working at ING means working in a dynamic and international setting.

Who are you?

  • You have basic knowledge and understanding of content and architecture of multiple domains (technologies, applications, business processes). You can define and align (global) architecture standards.
  • You work independently and act as a self-starter to design reference architectures for your domain and to make the dependencies visible to move from the current landscape to the target landscape. At the same time, you avoid silos’ thinking by proactively seeking collaboration with others to co-create. Therefore, you have co-creation skills (workshops, guiding, constraining, selling, telling).
  • You take decisions on the basis of limited information and use indirect influence. You have a long-term perseverance, without becoming dogmatic or rigid.
  • Master level or equivalent by experience and good written and spoken knowledge of English.
  • You use pattern recognition to assess what to do and rules to determine how to do it. You make complex analyses and connections between current events and the corporate strategy or the longer term vision.
  • You anticipate Risk, Security & Reliability requirements for your solutions and you coordinate the embedding of mitigations in the architecture designs and principles for your scope.
  • Having experience with the principles of agile development is highly preferred.
  • You have the ability to travel
