How does the IT landscape of ABN AMRO Mortgages look like in 5 years? As a Domain Architect, you play a crucial role in answering that question.

Your Work

As a Domain Architect, you have a helicopter view of the functional and technical landscape of a mortgage domain and develop its architectural direction in line with the strategy of Mortgages. No Big Designs Upfront, but minimum viable architectures focusing on an architecture that can develop incrementally. You act as a facilitator and coach to the development teams. Maintaining and developing that vision and the larger themes is done together with other architects and stakeholders. You also involve business stakeholders in this process.

You will work within the IT department of ABN AMRO Mortgages, as part of Enabling Services: a team of architects and consultants aimed at making things possible or easier for and with the development teams. These teams ensure that customers can either arrange and modify their mortgage online themselves or via their advisor. Architecture is primarily within these teams: decisions are made locally where possible.

Challenges:

• Changing IT landscape where data as a source for new initiatives is driving the business (data mesh);
• Maintaining architectural boundaries within an architecture where around 10 teams work as autonomously as possible on their own (micro)services;
• Staying compliant with changing legislation and regulations;
• Pragmatically finding a way: local culture and architecture inspired by Domain Driven Design, Team Topologies, LeSS, cloud-native development, DevOps, etc. versus the bureaucracy of a large, highly regulated organization.

Your Profile

• You have an academic or HBO educational and work level;
• You speak and write excellent Dutch and English;
• You have at least 10 years of working experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a similar role in a medium to large organization;
• You have experience applying strategic aspects of Domain Driven Design;
• You have a development background;
• You can switch between various abstraction levels;
• You have experience with different architectural patterns;
• You have knowledge of data patterns (preferable);
• You are capable of developing an architectural vision and conveying it to various stakeholders: from MT and Enterprise Architects to developers in a team;
• You are entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and sensitive to organizational dynamics.
