Details

Anthropic is looking for an Editorial Lead to own the engineering blog — a visible channel for sharing how the company builds, what it learns, and why it matters. The role bridges highly technical engineering and research work with a broad, curious readership, turning complex engineering stories into posts that are rigorous, accessible, and compelling. The Editorial Lead will work closely with engineering and research teams to identify publishable stories and lead the editorial process from first draft through publication, drawing out strong writing from subject-matter experts and preserving technical accuracy and authors' voices.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain editorial strategy for the engineering blog, including editorial calendar, content mix, and voice and tone guidelines.
  • Source and develop blog post ideas in collaboration with engineering and research teams; identify work suited to external publication.
  • Edit posts end-to-end: substantive feedback on structure and clarity through to line-level polish, while preserving technical accuracy and the author’s voice.
  • Coach and support engineers through writing and revision; help produce strong drafts and build contributor confidence.
  • Coordinate with engineering leadership and developer relations to align published content with team priorities and product/research timelines.
  • Coordinate with communications and marketing on promotion and audience strategy for published posts.
  • Coordinate with design on diagrams and visuals that support technical content.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of editorial experience, with a strong track record of editing technical or complex content for broad audiences.
  • Exceptional editing skills: able to improve a piece significantly without losing what made it worth reading.
  • Curiosity about engineering and technology; ability to get up to speed quickly on new technical topics.
  • Skilled at drawing out ideas from subject-matter experts and helping them articulate their thinking clearly on the page.
  • Strategic thinking about content: understanding how individual posts collectively build a coherent picture of the organization’s engineering work.
  • Comfortable working across teams and navigating competing priorities when turning internal work into external-facing content.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (required).

Strong candidates may also

  • Have a background in technical writing, developer communications, or engineering.
  • Have experience running or significantly contributing to a technical blog or publication.
  • Be familiar with the AI and machine learning landscape and how technical work in this space is communicated to practitioner and general audiences.
  • Have experience building or scaling editorial workflows — including processes for review, approval, and publication — within a fast-moving organization.
  • Have a portfolio demonstrating editing work on technically dense material.

Annual Salary:

$255,000 - $320,000 USD

  • Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and will make reasonable efforts and retain an immigration lawyer to help when an offer is made.
