The role involves leading the Pipelines squad, which focuses on enabling Customer.io to be a trusted source of real-time marketing data by building scalable, distributed systems and intuitive user interfaces. The manager will lead a team experienced in backend, frontend, full stack, and QA, supporting development into senior and staff-level roles, while working across problem spaces such as integration capabilities, infrastructure consolidation, and handling large data volumes.
Responsibilities
- Lead squad rituals and ensure quality standards, documentation, deployment, logging, and monitoring.
- Ensure scalable, secure, architecturally sound, and flexible solutions.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment with accountability for delivery timelines.
- Provide coaching and development for engineers.
- Hire, onboard, and manage squad performance.
- Understand business and product aspects to drive meaningful investigation.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Design teams.
Requirements
- Experience working in North/South American time zones.
- At least 3 years as an Engineering Manager on SaaS products in early to mid-stage companies.
- Deep understanding of SaaS architecture, Go language, cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS).
- Technical architecture comprehension and ability to mentor engineers.
- Ability to build high-performing teams and communicate clearly.

This is a fully remote role for Americas, with a salary range for San Francisco Bay Area candidates of $170,000 to $240,000 USD depending on experience.
