Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
Role overview
Your primary mission is network operations: deploying and maintaining network infrastructure, overseeing smarthands vendors, and owning the physical infrastructure lifecycle from install through decommission. You will also flex into other site work as the network infrastructure team needs you. This role involves building processes, playbooks, and operational discipline for scale, working across sites, and regular travel. The role has a travel requirement of up to 40–60% to sites across the U.S.
The annual compensation range for this role is $250,000 - $290,000 USD.
Responsibilities
- Own network infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and bringup across sites
- Oversee outside plant and long-haul fiber optic repair vendors: manage dispatches, validate work quality, and ensure SLA compliance
- Execute network device installation, configuration validation, and commissioning support
- Own RMA processes end-to-end: triage, swap, ship, track, close
- Manage spares inventory and coordinate logistics across sites
- Conduct physical asset auditing and cradle-to-grave lifecycle tracking
- Coordinate with vendors for outsourced work and hold them accountable
- Build repeatable processes and playbooks that scale with the team
- Support various site deployments such as rack-and-stack, commissioning, forklift, and decommissioning as needed
Requirements / Qualifications
- 5+ years (3+ considered for the right candidate) of hands-on experience in field engineering, network operations, or telecom infrastructure
- Strong understanding of fiber optic systems sufficient to oversee vendor work and validate splicing, testing, and repair quality
- Familiarity with network hardware deployment (switches, routers, optics)
- Experience managing RMA workflows and spares logistics across multiple sites
- Relevant certifications or willingness to obtain them (OSHA 10/30, BICSI, fiber certifications, confined space)
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
- Experience building processes from scratch and thriving in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Clear and direct communication, especially when flagging risks or blockers
Logistics
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Location-based hybrid policy: staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more time in office
- Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and retain an immigration lawyer to assist, though sponsorship is not guaranteed for every role/candidate
