Details

We're looking for a Front End IT Engineer within the Innovation department who operates at the forefront of technological developments in the banking industry. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop and test innovative propositions and processes, and translate them into scalable, secure and compliant production systems when proven successful. There are two vacancies: one focused on iOS and one focused on Android. The role will primarily focus on mobile front-ends but may also contribute to web front-end and backend work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on developing mobile applications for iOS or Android and act as the domain expert for the broader team.
  • Take ownership of complex front-end components and features.
  • Contribute to generic development work and architectural decisions; ensure high standards in performance, accessibility, security and code quality.
  • Participate across the full development lifecycle from refinement and design to delivery and production support.
  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product owners and UX designers to translate designs into functional components and ensure flawless user experiences.
  • Work with teams responsible for maintaining APIs from which applications source their content.
  • Actively contribute to improving development standards, testing strategies and tooling.
  • Support and mentor less experienced developers, especially on front-end topics.

Working environment

You will join a collaborative team of innovators, AI specialists and IT engineers who explore, build and scale innovative banking solutions and processes. The team is self-organizing and multidisciplinary, balancing fast experimentation with the reliability required for secure, production-ready financial capabilities. You will collaborate with product experts, innovation teams, Client Units, challenger banks, Legal, Information Security, Compliance, Risk and engineers across ABN AMRO. The culture values ownership, craftsmanship, experimentation and a pragmatic approach to delivering measurable business value.

Requirements / Your profile

  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Web development with Vue.js and TypeScript experience or willingness to learn.
  • Java Spring Boot backend API development experience or willingness to learn.
  • In-depth expertise in architectural principles, testing methodologies, security risks, continuous delivery and cloud infrastructure.
