Anthropic is seeking an Industry Principal, Insurance to serve as the technical and strategic face of Claude to leading insurance carriers, brokers, reinsurers, and insurtech companies. This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, customer engagement, product strategy, and internal enablement. You will help customers envision, architect, and realize AI solutions while shaping Anthropic’s product roadmap for insurance and enabling GTM teams with domain expertise and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Technical evangelism and thought leadership: represent Anthropic's technical vision to the insurance industry through conference keynotes, executive briefings, whitepapers, and advisory boards; establish Claude as the leading AI platform for P&C, Life, and Reinsurance markets.
  • Strategic customer engagement: serve as executive technical sponsor for strategic insurance accounts; engage CIOs, CTOs, Chief Underwriting Officers, Chief Claims Officers, and Heads of AI/ML on enterprise AI strategy; build peer-to-peer relationships positioning Anthropic as a strategic transformation partner.
  • Product partnership & roadmap influence: translate customer requirements and competitive dynamics into product priorities; partner with Product and Research to develop insurance-specific capabilities (model governance, explainability, audit logging, regulatory compliance features).
  • Pricing & commercial strategy: contribute to pricing and packaging decisions with insurance market insight; understand value drivers, competitive positioning, and deal structuring aligned with how insurers buy technology.
  • Internal enablement & advocacy: train and uplift Anthropic's GTM teams on insurance domain expertise, use cases, and buyer personas; create enablement content and conduct training sessions.
  • Regulatory & compliance navigation: partner internally and externally to develop thought leadership on AI governance frameworks aligned with state insurance regulations, NAIC guidelines, Solvency II, Lloyd's requirements; help customers understand model risk management and explainability requirements.
  • Ecosystem partnership: build technical relationships with GSIs (Deloitte, Accenture, McKinsey), cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and insurance technology vendors (Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco).

Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience in technology and/or business roles with at least 8 years in senior leadership positions (CTO, VP Engineering, Chief Architect, Chief Underwriting Officer, Head of Claims Technology, Distinguished Engineer) in insurance.
  • Deep domain expertise across multiple insurance segments—P&C (personal and commercial lines), Life & Annuities, or Reinsurance—with hands-on experience building or operating mission-critical systems.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies including large language models, with ability to engage credibly on technical architecture, model behavior, and system design.
  • Established executive networks across insurance technology leadership and credibility as a thought leader in the industry.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements (state insurance regulations, NAIC model laws, Solvency II, Lloyd's requirements) and experience implementing compliant technology solutions.
  • Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into business value propositions for both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience influencing product roadmaps based on customer feedback and market requirements, working effectively with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Passionate about responsible AI development and Anthropic's mission.

Compensation

  • Annual Salary: $360,000 - $550,000 USD

Logistics

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Location-based hybrid policy: staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office time.
  • Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and retain an immigration lawyer to assist, though not every role/candidate can be successfully sponsored.
