Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems and seeks an International Policy Analyst to advance the company’s policy objectives globally. The role focuses on executing complex cross-functional plans, engaging external stakeholders, and helping the company assess and act on emerging AI policy opportunities across priority geographies (APAC, LATAM, and/or EMEA). This position is based in Anthropic’s San Francisco headquarters and will require occasional foreign travel.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to development of strategies to support Anthropic’s international policy objectives, including implementation plans and metrics
- Support projects to ensure smooth entry to new markets from a regulatory perspective
- Propose and develop new programming and generate opportunities to build relationships with policymakers, think tanks, and non-profit organizations in overseas markets
- Create initial policy stakeholder maps and devise strategic engagement plans
- Collaborate with policy and technical teams to translate Anthropic research into concrete policy proposals, stakeholder education, and thought leadership opportunities
- Draft and amplify public submissions, responses to requests for information (RFI), and policy memos
Requirements
- Track record supporting tech and AI policy advocacy in APAC, LATAM, and/or EMEA
- Strong research, analysis, and writing skills
- Experience engaging with governments, policymakers, and civil society and translating complex technical topics into accessible information
- Demonstrated ability to identify and convene stakeholders at regional and global levels
- Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional, global team
- Motivation to help governments understand AI progress and develop effective policies
- Curiosity about frontier technological research and willingness to work closely with technical colleagues
- Education: at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

- Extensive experience engaging government regulatory authorities in major international markets from a private sector perspective
- Ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical areas and policy dynamics
- Background in entrepreneurship and demonstrated capacity for networking from a cold start
Compensation
- Annual base salary: $230,000 - $265,000 USD
- Total compensation package includes equity, benefits, and may include incentive compensation
Logistics & Other Details
- Location: San Francisco headquarters; this role is based in San Francisco, CA
- Office policy: location-based hybrid expectation (staff in one of our offices at least 25% of the time)
- Visa sponsorship: Anthropic does sponsor visas in many cases and retains an immigration lawyer to assist
- Occasional foreign travel expected
