Responsibilities

  • Enable risk-informed business outcomes by communicating quantitative and qualitative tradeoffs.
  • Manage risks throughout the risk lifecycle including intake, triage, analysis, and documentation of risk treatment decisions.
  • Maintain and improve the risk register and supporting tooling through quality control and automation.
  • Analyze variables to refine threat models and risk scoring methodologies.
  • Report on risk posture through meetings and metrics aligned with business leadership.
  • Support communication and training plans to implement the technology risk program organization-wide.
  • Build and coach a team of technology and security risk analysts, fostering innovation and providing ongoing feedback.
  • Align technology risk with enterprise risk management and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate globally across Coinbase entities, products, and markets, liaising with GRC, Legal, and Compliance.
  • Support audit and regulatory inspection data compilation.
  • Maintain awareness of international regulations, emerging threats, and industry benchmarks.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in risk management or Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) functions.
  • Strong knowledge of risk domain standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001/5, NIST CSF, COBIT, ITIL, DORA, and FAIR risk methodology.
  • Expertise in technology risk, including technical quantitative risk assessments across IT domains like asset management, resilience, SDLC, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with project management and data analytics tools (e.g., Jira, Archer).
  • Excellent communication skills, including translating compliance requirements into functional technical terms.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Familiarity with US and international regulatory/legal frameworks relevant to technology.
  • Ability to manage multiple assessments and handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to Coinbase-specific challenges.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in FinTech, TradFi, consulting, or technical program management.
  • Knowledge of risk/control issues in emerging technologies such as crypto, mobile, cloud, data lakes, and machine learning.
  • Certifications like CRISC, CISA, CISSP, CISM, or FAIR risk qualifications.
  • Basic coding skills for data integration and visualization.
  • Beginner to intermediate knowledge of crypto, blockchain, and web3.

Pay Range: $193,970 — $228,200 USD annually, with additional target bonus, equity, and benefits.
