Reddit is a large internet community platform with over 100,000 active communities and approximately 101 million daily active unique visitors, hosting open and authentic conversations. As its advertising business expands, the need to deliver high-quality and relevant promoted content becomes critical for user experience and advertiser success. The Engagement Modeling Team is central to this effort, building and maintaining machine learning models that predict and optimize user engagement with ads, such as click-through rates and video views. These models influence key ad-serving decisions affecting both Reddit’s growth and user satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for engagement modeling, aligning advanced ML solutions with Reddit’s product and business goals.
• Oversee the full machine learning lifecycle including data generation, pipeline architecture, model training, evaluation, and scalable deployment.
• Design and implement cutting-edge deep learning architectures focused on user engagement, ranking, and recommendation.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of machine learning engineers fostering innovation and technical excellence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to define engagement goals, KPIs, and data needs.
• Ensure ML models maintain high standards for performance, scalability, interpretability, and robustness in production.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in deep learning architectures for ranking, recommendation, or engagement prediction at scale.
• Proficiency with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Hands-on experience managing the full ML lifecycle in production settings: feature engineering, training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Skilled in orchestrating large-scale data pipelines for model training and evaluation.
• Experience or familiarity with ads engagement modeling is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated team management experience focusing on mentoring and development.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively across functions.
• Strategic thinking to develop and communicate technical strategies that support business objectives.

Compensation

Base salary range: $230,000 - $322,000 USD annually.

Equity in the form of restricted stock units and possible commission depending on position level.
