Machine Learning Manager - Ads Marketplace Quality

The Manager of Ads Marketplace Quality will lead work to shape Reddit’s ads auctions to ensure a great user experience with relevant ads, help business growth, and establish foundational economic principles for the organization. This is a remote role based in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision and product strategy for ads quality and relevance.
• Build and scale the auction/ranking platform for Ads Marketplace Quality to support business growth.
• Optimize ads delivery and auction systems through utility function design and marketplace tradeoff measurement.
• Own execution of the team roadmap; prioritize work, manage risks, and ensure predictable delivery.
• Coach Tech Leads on project management and empower teams to execute autonomously.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and scale the engineering team; write job descriptions, source, interview, and help close candidates.
• Drive career development for engineers, create development plans, and mentor technical growth.
• Develop processes and tooling to improve product and system quality, meeting product requirements, customer needs, and SLAs.
• Serve as a thought partner to product and upper management to align team plans with company goals and communicate expectations with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
• Strong technical aptitude; able to solve many team problems directly while preferring to guide the team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with data-driven/informed decision making.
• Technical expertise in ads auctions or closely related domains (e.g., online ads bidding and optimization).
• Experience executing on complex Ads projects involving both math (auctions/bidding/optimization) and serving infrastructure.

• In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for restricted stock units and, depending on the role, commissions.

Pay Transparency

• The base pay range for this US-based position is: $230,000 - $322,000 USD.
