Requirements

  • A quantitative degree and experience in Data Analytics
  • Risk management professional skills with hands on Model Risk
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and ethical guidelines
  • Experience in corporate governance and in-depth knowledge of Model Risk Management Framework principles (will be considered a plus)
  • Design thinking
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to have / You’ll get extra points for

  • Experience in corporate governance and in-depth knowledge of Model Risk Management Framework principles
  • Participation in end-to-end modelling, framework and governance initiatives/projects and change management
  • Automation experience in Python/VBA or in SAS MRM tool
  • Knowledge on structuring and application of Data Quality aspects: framework design and implementation, monitoring and control activities and validation rules on data sets
  • Operational agility in Power BI or other data visualization platforms

Responsibilities

  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of model inventory data at portfolio level to assess model risk and contribute to steering by identifying root causes of MRAS threshold breaches
  • Perform monitoring of ongoing action plans aimed to keep model risk measures within defined MRAS limits
  • Define portfolio-level analysis conclusions, communicate key messages to appropriate stakeholders, and initiate new actions and escalations through the model risk reporting and governance process
  • Perform reviews of model risk topics (e.g., model identification, model waivers) and provide advice, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and support audit requests/remediation activities, collaborating with other tribes/stakeholders
  • Deliver information sessions and reporting to relevant stakeholders and participate in the delivery of trainings
  • Influence strategic change in stakeholder behaviour, shifting focus from operational activities towards portfolio management of risk levels
  • Interact with model owners and other stakeholders, fostering accountability and ownership of model risk within the 1st line of defence
  • Maintain solid technical knowledge of iModel and draft business requirements and specifications for requested changes

Information about the team

The team is part of the functional line Model Risk Oversight (MRO) responsible for the design and implementation of ING’s global Model Risk Management (MoRM) framework and tooling across all models used within ING Bank worldwide. The tribe aims to proactively manage model risks by guiding global and local communities in the execution of the model lifecycle activities, performing effective and efficient 2nd Line of Defence (LoD) challenge and oversight across ING’s model landscape, and monitoring and reporting on model risks.

MRO is an international team of Model Risk Experts, Business Analysts, and Data Analysts/Programmers. MRO is developing and rolling out the new MoRM framework covering all models used within ING Bank worldwide. To further strengthen and manage the model risk management activities, MRO expands within Risk Hub of ING Hubs Poland. The Risk Hub Model Risk Oversight Chapter supports/guides global and local model communities in execution of the model life cycle activities, facilitates oversight, monitors model risk, assesses and governs model inventory data quality, and reports for global/local entities.

The role will report functionally to the Chapter Lead MoRM MRO MRPM&F located in Amsterdam and hierarchically to the Chapter Lead Model Risk Reporting, Risk Hub Model Risk Management – Department located in Warsaw. The global ING job architecture role name will be "Model Risk Specialist IV".
