At SentinelOne, we are driven by a clear purpose: to give the advantage to those who secure our future. As AI reshapes how organizations build, operate, and innovate, the responsibility to protect them becomes more critical than ever. When you join SentinelOne, your work helps protect global enterprises, critical infrastructure, and the technologies shaping tomorrow.
About Us
SentinelOne is at the intersection of AI and security, building an AI-native platform that unifies protection across endpoint, cloud, identity, data, and AI systems. The platform delivers autonomous detection and response by combining real-time analytics, intelligent automation, and a unified data foundation.
Role overview
The Principal AI Developer Experience Architect is the technical authority for the AI engineering layer, owning strategy and architecture for enterprise-grade AI coding assistants and LLM platforms integrated into IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and internal platforms. The role ensures AI-generated code is trustworthy, performant, and reliable by default for an 800+ developer organization and focuses on secure, governed, and measurable AI tooling across context management, prompt design, and AI-driven code review.
Responsibilities
- Architect the AI Engineering Layer: define end-to-end architecture for AI-augmented development, design how large-context LLMs consume codebase and documentation context, and establish reusable patterns for agentic workflows with rollback and validation strategies.
- Own AI Guardrails, Skills, and Standards: define and maintain AI coding standards and a global skills & requirements framework; translate standards into prompt templates, tool configurations, and policy-as-code; partner with InfoSec, Data Governance, and Legal for policy, data residency, and FedRAMP compliance.
- Implement AI-Driven Code Review and Safety as Code: lead integration of AI-powered code review using AST analysis and static/dynamic checks; integrate AI review signals with SRE observability (logs, metrics, traces); encode "safety as code" by integrating test coverage, performance scans, and progressive delivery patterns (canaries, blue/green) into AI-authored change flows.
- Lead Vendor Evaluation and Integration: own technical evaluations for AI developer tooling, run POCs with structured criteria, and ensure vendors meet security, privacy, and data governance standards.
- Drive Developer Adoption and Experience: publish guidance, patterns, and internal frameworks; partner with AI Champions Network and Learning & Development to define curricula and hands-on labs; translate adoption and productivity signals into DORA metrics and ROI narratives.
- Partner on Reliability, Metrics, and Governance: work with SRE and Reliability Engineering to improve MTTR, CFR, and SLO performance; participate in DevEx governance and own engineering intelligence dashboards and leadership reports.
Requirements
Experience
- 10+ years in software engineering, platform/dev tools, or infrastructure engineering, including significant experience operating at Staff/Principal level in a 300+ engineer product organization.
- 3+ years designing and shipping LLM-powered developer tools or workflows in production environments.
- Proven track record of architecting developer platforms or large-scale internal tooling used by hundreds of engineers.
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of LLM context window design, retrieval strategies, and prompt engineering at scale and how these interact with large polyglot codebases.
- Hands-on experience integrating enterprise AI coding assistants into IDEs and Git hosting platforms.
- Strong background in AST-based code analysis, static/dynamic analysis, and policy-as-code for automated PR review.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD systems, progressive delivery (canaries, blue/green), and embedding AI in delivery pipelines.
- Experience integrating AI review signals with observability systems (logs, metrics, traces) and encoding safety as code (test coverage, performance scans).
- Strong grounding in security and compliance for SaaS and AI/ML systems, including partnering for FedRAMP and data residency requirements.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Experience acting as a cross-org technical leader aligning Staff/Principal engineers, EMs, and PMs around shared architecture and standards.
- Comfortable presenting technical tradeoffs and ROI to senior leadership and producing executive-ready recommendations.
- Proven ability to mentor and partner across Product and Technology organizations to deliver complex multi-quarter programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for design docs, evaluation criteria, and developer-facing guidance.
Benefits
- Medical, Vision, Dental, 401(k), Commuter, Health and Dependent FSA
- Unlimited PTO
- Industry-leading gender-neutral parental leave
