Role summary
We are seeking a Product Finance, Inference Capacity Lead to join our Finance team at Anthropic. In this role you will be a key partner to product teams, engineering leaders, and go-to-market teams, providing financial expertise and guidance to support strategic decision-making. You will analyze financial data, build detailed financial models, and deliver insights to drive informed business decisions across our inference infrastructure—one of the biggest line items on our P&L.
This role works closely with senior Compute, Product, and GTM stakeholders and collaborates with other members of the finance organization to align product and inference strategies with broader financial considerations. You will create and scale unit economic metrics and help optimize inference capacity and costs.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance, recommendations, and influence to product, engineering, and go-to-market stakeholders on financial strategies, investments, and resource allocation decisions
- Partner cross-functionally with senior engineering leaders and technical teams to drive detailed financial modeling and analysis, building sophisticated models to optimize inference infrastructure costs and performance
- Lead the creation and scaling of novel unit economic metrics (including LTV, contribution margin, and other KPIs)
- Drive optimization initiatives and provide clarity into inference infrastructure costs to maximize efficiency of a major P&L line item
- Partner cross-functionally on analysis, models, and recommendations across areas such as pricing and packaging, business expansion, and unit economic frameworks
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and insightful financial reports, analyses, and forecasts, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for stakeholders and executives
- Collaborate with Finance & Strategy and accounting counterparts to align product and inference strategies with broader financial considerations
- Establish and implement reporting dashboards and scorecards to track key operational and financial metrics
Requirements (Minimum qualifications)
- Exceptional analytical skills and ability to synthesize data into compelling insights
- Experience developing and maintaining complex and detailed financial operating models
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Comfort working cross-functionally with senior engineering leaders and technical teams; ability to communicate complex financial information to technical and non-finance audiences
- Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and driving operational outcomes under tight timelines
- Strong relationship building, business judgment, process management, and communication skills
- Passion for optimizing major cost centers and P&L line items
- Passion for Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems
Preferred qualifications
- 8+ years of experience across strategic finance, product finance, compute finance, investment banking, private equity, and growth equity
- Combination of ~5+ years in strategic/product finance plus several years in investment banking, private equity, or growth equity
- Direct experience and strong interest in AI infrastructure
- Background in AI, ML, or related technologies
- Experience creating and scaling novel unit economic metrics and frameworks
- Experience with consumption-based and/or complex business models
Compensation
Annual Salary: $235,000 - $310,000 USD
Logistics
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Location-based hybrid policy: currently, staff are expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time
- Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas; if an offer is made, Anthropic will make reasonable efforts to obtain a visa and retains an immigration lawyer to help
