Details

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Consumer team builds AI that millions of people use every day to think better, create more, and accomplish what matters to them.

This role seeks a former consumer founder or experienced product manager who excels at 0-to-1 product development, ships delightful consumer experiences, and is hands-on with prototyping and execution. The team values creativity, craft, technical depth, and a vision for AI improving daily life.

Responsibilities

  • Work with researchers to understand emerging model capabilities and what they mean for users.
  • Identify nascent research capabilities that could become transformative consumer products.
  • Lead 0-to-1 product development from research to internal prototypes to shipped products.
  • Define product strategy for consumer initiatives that push beyond current offerings.
  • Creatively build MVPs and prototypes to validate product–market fit with minimal cost.
  • Lead vision, strategy, roadmap, and execution of frontier technologies that leverage the latest AI capabilities to solve real-world problems.

Requirements

  • Track record as a founder or 8+ years in product management, with experience launching new products and scaling existing products.
  • Deep technical background and experience working cross-functionally with engineering teams to ship technical products.
  • Ability to navigate and execute amidst ambiguity and flex into different domains to find simple solutions.
  • Experience launching ambitious consumer products that have found distribution or commercial success.
  • Hands-on with emerging research and industry trends; ability to prototype with AI tools like Claude Code.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating closely with researchers and engineers.
  • Education: at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $385,000 - $460,000 USD

(For sales roles the posted range would represent OTE; this role is Product Management and the above is the annual salary range.)

Logistics

  • Locations: San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY.
  • Location-based hybrid policy: staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time (some roles may require more office time).
  • Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and retain an immigration lawyer to help, though not every role/candidate can be successfully sponsored.
  • Application materials: resume or LinkedIn profile is required; additional application questions and voluntary self-identification forms are included in the process.

How we're different

Anthropic focuses on large-scale research efforts as cohesive teams, values impact and collaboration across research and engineering, and hosts frequent research discussions. The posting references recent research directions (e.g., GPT-3, interpretability, scaling laws) as context for their work.

Benefits

Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and an office space for collaboration. Guidance for candidate use of AI in the application process is provided via a public policy link.
