As Area Engineering Platforms (EP) within the Tribe Tech4Engineering it is our mission to ‘deliver intuitive, compliant-by-design solutions that empower engineers to focus on driving business value’.

Our solutions can be defined as: Portals, Virtual Machines, Container Platforms, Databases, Data & Analytics, Cloud Integration solutions, managed Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, Google), and Software Defined Infrastructure platform. These solutions are consumed by 8.000 DevOps engineers, including the global regions North-America, South-America, Asia and Oceania. To simplify their engineering journey, we need to lower their cognitive load. Means for that are simplification of our solutions and using centralized standards across the Rabobank.

Our Area’s main goal for 2024-2025 is: ‘our simplified service portfolio allows services to be combined into (bigger) Managed Standardized Services (MSSs), creating the first Golden Paths. We do this in co-creation with consumers, data-driven & automated with global availability.’

Your Product as PO

One of the biggest changes on standardization and moving higher in the technology stack will be around Virtual Machines. Apart from the technical implementation, it means another way of looking at your application as consumer of our MSS. Early Q4 2024 we as Area will be going live with our MSS VMs Public Cloud (Azure & AWS). All consumers with VMs will need to migrate to the MSS in 2025. You connect via interpersonal relations and work in cooperation with our consumers to make this migration a success. Once we celebrate this collaboration, bear with us, we actually don’t want VMs in public Cloud at all. We would like to move higher in the tech stack. Excited to figure out your role in this? We are, because we believe in the strength of every unique individual and will certainly utilize this. Next to that, you surely are able to contribute to Area topics, like those of the Chapter POs, along the way.

We are seeking a dedicated Product Owner, as a new position. You will start in this role without a dedicated squad. It allows you the opportunity to help shape your own squad as part of the Area Leadership team. We do this jointly! You will already start to work with the POs of the services you consume for your MSS.

Some examples of what your successes can look like:

  • You helped us as Area to consider how to be organized around VMs (e.g. in terms of squad triangles and squads). To allow full benefits for the organization and for you to be even more successful. Enabled our consumers to migrate all non-standardized VMs within cloud towards the MSS. You have been able to provide insights and report upon progress.
  • A plan – together with the Chapter Architecture - on how to transition from Virtual Machines public Cloud towards higher in the stack. Engineer happiness is measured frequently to validate/adjust as well as to co-create. Enrichment of the currently defined MSS with proposed solutions to simplify the engineers’ journey, working towards golden path.
  • Have a sharp product vision in place, and liaison that towards the service providers you rely on as part of your MSS on VMs. For this the provider/consumer model is clear consisting of agreements on support and ownership. The user group VMs has a clear agenda steered upon by you and the consumers provide you with provides feedback to inspect and adapt your MSS.
  • You use data-driven insights to track usage and deviations from the defined standards. You created sufficient dashboarding, target-architecture landscape, not-implemented-requirement (NIR)/waiver/exception-process and reporting-ability.

IT a man's world? Not in Engineering Platforms, you will have +20 female colleagues! You will join an inclusive and very diverse Area with many nationalities; as example we have the nationalities Indian, Chinese, Turkish, Swedish and Russian within 3 squads who are working via 1 Product Backlog.

Our Area has 8 other Product Owners, 4 Tech Leads, 6 Solution Architects, 7 Scrum Masters and 17 squads. As Area we are year after year topping the charts when it comes to employee engagement & satisfaction. This really defines our Area as a fun and safe place to work.

The most important Product Owner stances for this role are “The Influencer” and “The Customer Representative”, as you will represent the engineers and guide them in the right direction.

  • You have 4+ years of experience creating value
  • You focus on system adoption and success (outcomes), rather than technical deliverables (outputs).
  • You preferably have experience in working in a larger matrix-organisation.
  • You have a proven track record with SCRUM and agile.
  • Your approach is proactive in improving solutions and embracing opportunities.
  • You like to create structure and purpose.
  • You’re able to present convincing value propositions.
  • An open mindset and willingness to help on Product Chapter topics for the Area.

A salary between €5.115, - and €7.308, - gross per month means up to €120.000,00 per year, including all benefits, based on knowledge and experience for a 40-hour work week (scale 10).
