Details

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Program Manager will own the operations behind Anthropic's Responsible Scaling Policy (RSP) — the framework that governs when models are safe to train, deploy, and keep deployed. The role sits at the intersection of safety commitments and model launches and requires building and running program infrastructure (source-of-truth tracking, report pipelines, and cross-functional coordination) to keep the RSP cycle on track.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the source-of-truth view for every model and the RSP obligations it triggers so stakeholders can see status at a glance
  • Project-manage Risk Reports and Capability Reports end-to-end: shepherd evaluations, reviews, and publication to ensure reports are delivered when needed
  • Coordinate Safeguards, Security, and other required reviews ahead of each launch to confirm the applicable RSP standard is met and surface gaps early
  • Own the RSP commitments tracker (Frontier Safety Roadmap milestones, evaluation cadence, public update obligations) and operate it as the system of record
  • Run RSP version updates through internal review, Board approval, and public posting
  • Represent the RSP program in launch readiness forums and system card reviews, ensuring policy owners are looped in when decisions are needed

Requirements

  • 8+ years running high-stakes, deadline-driven compliance or governance programs (e.g., regulatory operations, trust & safety launch reviews, security/privacy compliance)
  • Direct experience coordinating across technical, security, legal, and executive stakeholders with differing vocabularies and incentives
  • Ability to read technical evaluation reports, ask the right clarifying questions, and turn them into crisp decision memos
  • Demonstrated record of building tracking systems that drive cross-functional initiatives to resolution
  • Calm, sound judgment when launch timelines and safety obligations collide; pragmatic enforcement of process
  • Strong written communication; able to produce status updates and approval packets suitable for senior leadership or external audiences
  • Familiarity with RSP, model launch processes, or contributing teams (Safeguards, Security, capability evals, Alignment Stress Testing, Policy) is a plus
  • Experience preparing materials for a Board, regulator, or external auditor is a plus

Compensation

  • Annual salary range: $190,000 - $235,000 USD

Logistics

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Required field of study: a field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
  • Minimum years of experience: will correlate with internal job level requirements
  • Location-based hybrid policy: staff expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time
  • Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they sponsor visas and will make reasonable efforts to help obtain a visa for an offered candidate

How we work

  • Anthropic describes itself as a collaborative research organization focused on large-scale research efforts and values communication skills. The role is embedded within cross-functional teams including researchers, engineers, policy experts, safeguards, security, and legal.

How to apply

  • The posting includes application instructions and asks candidates about visa sponsorship and openness to relocation. Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every listed qualification.
