NVIDIA Research — Human Performance and Experience (HPX) team is seeking Research Scientists to advance AI by deeply understanding humans and human–AI interaction. The team bridges vision science, HCI, and HRI to create systems that perceive, learn, and collaborate with people safely and effectively. You will work with research scientists and engineers and collaborate with product engineers to move ideas from research to product.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, research, prototype, and test innovative research ideas.
  • Publish at top conferences and patent novel inventions.
  • Collaborate with other research team members and external researchers; mentor interns.
  • Create working interactive demonstrations to showcase research ideas.
  • Participate in technology transfer with engineers across NVIDIA to graduate research into product.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
  • Excellent track record of publications in top-tier conferences (SIGGRAPH, CHI, HRI, ICRA, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, CoG, ETRA, etc.).
  • Experience studying human behaviors in application domains such as gaming, driving, or interaction with robots.
  • Proficiency with Python, Rust, and/or C++.
  • Experience with AI model training and evaluation frameworks (for example, PyTorch).

Ways to Stand Out

  • Public portfolio (repositories, OSS contributions, notebooks, packages, or technical blog posts with code).
  • Experience with multi-node, multi-GPU training and inference workflows.
  • Familiarity with and interest in modern deep learning models, including large-scale, multi-modal foundation models (recent LLMs, VLMs).
  • Track record applying human behavior models to ML applications or applying ML to model human behavior.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: 168,000 USD - 264,500 USD (determined by location, experience, and market pay).
  • Eligible for equity and benefits (see NVIDIA benefits page).
