The AI team at ABN AMRO is looking for a Senior AI Engineer with an innovative mindset, feel for business and entrepreneurial drive. Do you want to work at the forefront of the changes in the financial services industry and develop disruptive Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions? Then we have a challenging position for you!

You’ll work directly with entrepreneurs and business counterparts to bring AI solutions from idea to production. We are looking for creative and passionate people with a “go get it” mentality. Our AI Engineers are multi-skilled and have strong machine learning, system design and coding skills combined with an understanding of the business context within which AI solutions are embedded.

Your job

You’ll work on a portfolio of use cases that range from improving customer contact (e.g. voicebot) to revolutionizing the way how we interact with documents by leveraging GenAI. As an AI Engineer, your main goal is to develop AI systems and solutions for our initiatives and for our client units. We take care of the full development cycle from exploring and identifying opportunities, experimenting, and creating prototypes, to developing scalable products. Effectively this means that per specific use-case our focus can be on a variety of Engineering solutions ranging from Backend to Frontend to API’s to LLM to Machine Learning Models.

Your activities include:

• Participate in the ideation and design of AI solutions with business experts
• Coordinate the full project lifecycle, applying your varied skills to transform AI concepts into business-ready solutions
• Support initiatives at ABN AMRO Innovation with data-driven insights
• Apply your multifaceted skills to projects, ensuring all aspects are covered from AI through Frontend
• Experiment and implement new AI technologies (like chatGPT), algorithms and methods in one of our bank-wide projects (e.g. in Financial Crime or Operations).

Working environment

You’ll be working in the Artificial Intelligence team at ABN AMRO Innovation in Amsterdam and we provide ample opportunities for hybrid working. We have a start-up vibe. Your team consists of people (20+) with a passion for AI and we work every day to create (measurable) impact for the bank. There is an open team atmosphere where initiative is encouraged, and we provide daily coaching for juniors in our teams.

Our goal is to drive the adoption of (Gen)AI across the bank by working with Client Units on some of the hardest (Gen)AI problems within ABN AMRO.

Your profile

As an AI Developer/Engineer in the Innovations teams of ABN AMRO you are a “blended experience expert”. You won’t be a Data Scientist nor will you be an IT Engineer yet you’ll need to have an interest in both skillsets and be highly motivated to master both. You’ll need excellent problem-solving skills to be successful in this role by being able to translate complex business problems into tangible AI solutions.

Therefore we are looking for a candidate who can show us this blend in prior experiences obtained throughout their career.

Experience

• You have a (preferably) Master’s degree in the field of Artificial Intelligence, (advanced) Data Analytics, Mathematics or Computer Science.
• You have hands-on experience with coding, this can be Backend, Frontend, Full-stack or API development creating end-to-end solutions from previous (work) experience.
• You are able to showcase the business impact of your solutions starting in your CV, motivation, Git or portfolio.
• You are familiar with the ‘tools of the trade’, e.g. Python, LLMs, Git, Vue.js, FastAPI, Docker.
• You have familiarity with Azure Cloud.
• You are up to date on the latest developments within GenAI and can guide others in finding optimal solutions.

• You have a sense for business, and understand how (Gen)AI can be used to deliver value.
• You are pragmatic and value-focused, e.g. not afraid to work with existing solutions to reduce time-to-market.
• You are able to communicate effectively with technical and business counterparts.
• You are a team player that requires minimal steering to be productive.
• You are up to date on the latest developments within AI and can guide others in finding optimal solutions.
• You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are a self-starter.

We are offering
