The Apps Platform team supports other mobile engineers by building core components, libraries, APIs, and frameworks for the Reddit Android app, focusing on efficiency, modern technologies, and scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build core experiences and patterns for Reddit’s official Android app to improve browsing, commenting, and content creation flows.
- Collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams to solve complex challenges.
- Engage in the full Android development lifecycle: design, development, QA, experimentation, analysis, and deployment.
Requirements
- Expertise in Java or Kotlin with 5+ years in Android development.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building data-intensive, highly responsive, fault-tolerant apps optimized for smartphones.
- Openness to learning new software development approaches.
- Passion for scalable, well-designed software that impacts users globally.
- Experience delivering at least one Android app from start to shipment with a team.

Salary Transparency
Base pay range: $190,800 - $267,100 USD per year. Eligible for equity (restricted stock units) and possibly commissions depending on position. Additional U.S. employee benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k) program with employer match.
