Grafana Labs is the company behind the open observability cloud and Grafana Cloud, a fully managed observability platform. We are a 100% remote company with a global engineering organization and an open-source-first culture.
Opportunity
The Grafana Alerting squad operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project and focuses on providing users with comprehensive alert management. The backend-focused team collaborates with customers and Grafana Cloud teams to make Alerting work on-premises and at cloud scale. Recent projects include:
- Building distributed systems to scale alert ingestion and delivery of Prometheus-based alerts
- Unifying Alerting setup and delivery across Grafana and Prometheus-based alerts
- Scaling alert evaluation for Grafana-managed alerts (over 500 evaluations per second in production)
This role is a remote opportunity and Grafana Labs is interested in applications from Sweden.
Responsibilities
- Influence the squad roadmap and define your career objectives
- Work with the team to deliver new features and iterate based on results
- Drive projects from ideation through to customer-facing operations
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond your immediate team scope
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership of reliability, performance, and availability
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run
- Mentor and support team members and participate in design discussions
- Learn the codebase of a large distributed system and deepen cloud product knowledge
Requirements
- Senior-level experience building backend services and distributed systems
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Grafana Labs uses Go (familiarity with Python, Java, C++, Rust is also helpful)
- Experience delivering projects end-to-end: requirements gathering, design, implementation, deployment, and iteration
- Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team
Compensation & Rewards
- Sweden compensation range: SEK 775,444 - SEK 930,533 (actual compensation varies by level, experience, and skillset)
- All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
- Global annual leave policy of 30 days per annum (subject to local legislation), including 3 Grafana Shutdown Days
