Details
Grafana Labs is the company behind the open observability cloud and Grafana Cloud — a fully managed observability platform built for scale. The Grafana Alerting squad operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project and focuses on providing users with comprehensive alert management. The team builds distributed systems for alert ingestion, delivery, and evaluation, working closely with customers and Grafana Cloud teams to run on-prem and at infinite scale.
Responsibilities
- Influence the squad roadmap and drive your own career objectives.
- Deliver new features with your team and iterate based on results.
- Drive projects from ideation through to production and operations.
- Contribute to open-source projects and collaborate across teams.
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership of reliability, performance, and availability.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of services you run.
- Mentor and support other team members, engage in design discussions, and collaborate with the team.
- Learn product and codebase details to improve services for customers.
Requirements
- Motivated self-starter with a bias towards action and strong communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Customer-focused with a passion for creating intuitive products that meet customer needs.
- Pragmatic engineering approach: break complex challenges down, deliver MVPs, gather feedback, and iterate.
- Solid experience with at least one programming language. The team uses Go; familiarity with Python, Java, C++, Rust or similar translates well.
- Some experience delivering projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering through shipping to customers.
- Some experience with software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering.
- Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable by others.
- Experience building or operating distributed systems at scale (examples in the team include scaling alert ingestion/delivery and evaluation, including Prometheus-based alerts).
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and operate production services.
Compensation & Rewards
- UK compensation range: GBP 91,755 - GBP 110,106. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skills assessed during the interview process.
- All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
- Global annual leave policy of 30 days per annum (with 3 days reserved for Grafana Shutdown Days), subject to local legislation.
