Details
Grafana Labs is the company behind the open observability cloud and a 100% remote company with a global team. The Grafana Backend Services squad’s mission is to deliver the best Grafana service to both On-Prem and Cloud customers in a unified, end-to-end manner — from ownership of the API codebase to operation of its components. This squad owns components such as the Grafana Backend API, the CLI tool, and the orchestration infrastructure required to deliver Grafana at Cloud scale.
Responsibilities
- Work with your team to deliver new functionality, then iterate and improve based on results
- Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming features
- Embrace and contribute to open-source projects that may sit outside your team’s direct scope
- Influence roadmap and own career objectives
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run
- Mentor and support other team members; participate in design discussions and cross-team collaboration
- Share ideas and knowledge across a variety of technical ideologies
- Work closely with other squads in the Grafana Division
The company invests heavily in developer productivity and permits use of modern AI coding assistants (company-funded usage budget) within security guidelines. You will also have access to frontier models (examples given: GPT-Codex, Claude Opus, Gemini).
Requirements
- Solid backend development experience (ideally with Go)
- Good understanding of storage solutions with emphasis on relational databases such as MySQL, SQLite, and PostgreSQL
- Care about developer and user experience and product quality
- Experience delivering projects end-to-end: gathering requirements, brainstorming, shipping products
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software
- Experience mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative/asynchronous environment
- Comfortable working on complex solutions and breaking challenges into iterative MVPs with learning loops
- Willingness to be on-call and perform operational/SRE tasks for services you own
Bonus Points For
- Experience with open-source software and/or commercial open-source companies
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, or Developer Efficiency initiatives
- Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems
Compensation & Rewards
- Spain base compensation range: €82,000 - €103,000 (actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset). Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable), and other benefits listed by Grafana Labs.
This role is available for candidates located in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and Sweden.
