Senior Backend Engineer, Grafana Search & Storage

Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company with more than 20M users of Grafana and customers including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay. The Grafana Search & Storage squad is developing Grafana’s next-generation storage layer and manages Search (unified engine for finding/querying Grafana data) and Folders (hierarchical content management). Unified Storage enables developers to build applications using a Kubernetes-inspired Operator pattern and runs at scale within Grafana Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Influence the squad roadmap and your own career objectives.
• Work with the team to deliver new features and iterate based on results.
• Drive projects from ideation through to operation in customers' hands.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership for reliability, performance, and availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run.
• Mentor and support other team members and participate in design discussions.
• Contribute to Grafana’s open-source projects and collaborate across teams.
• Communicate effectively in a largely remote engineering organization.

Requirements

• Solid experience with the Go programming language.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems.
• Experience delivering projects end-to-end (requirements, design, implementation, shipping to customers).
• Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable by others.
• Motivated self-starter with strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to participate in on-call and operational duties.

Bonus Points

• Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
• Familiarity with being on-call and performing operations/SRE tasks.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code concepts.

Compensation & Rewards

• Sweden base compensation range: SEK 775,000 - SEK 969,000 (actual compensation may vary by level, experience, and skillset). Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable), and other benefits as listed by Grafana Labs.
• Compensation ranges are country-specific; recruiters will discuss market-specific pay ranges for other locations.
