We are part of Payments business unit that ensures secure and efficient transactions, enhances the user experience, and drives successful transactions through a reliable platform with advanced fraud prevention and tailored payment solutions. At Vinted Pay our mission is to create a global, revenue-generating, multi-service financial platform that will accelerate Vinted’s mission — making second hand the first choice.

As a Senior Backend engineer, you'll join a newly forming Marketplace Payments product team focusing on AML and KYC processes by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and protecting the platform from money laundering activities.

The new team will consist of all roles required to fulfill our area’s development needs: multiple backend engineers, iOS, Web, Android, test automation engineer, decision and data scientists, a Designer, an Engineering Manager and a Product Manager.

In this position, you’ll

• Work in a cross-functional team with engineers, designers, product managers and data scientists and drive impactful, high-visibility projects.
• Advocate for best practices, influence technical direction, and ensure quality from the outset of the team’s work.
• Partner effectively across multiple Payments domain teams to prioritize tasks and deliver impactful results.
• Work with fellow developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement.
• See your code impact 80 million users almost instantly, as our code gets rolled out straight to production on each merge, and do it reliably with feature switches and scalable A/B tests.
• Craft the code which can handle more than 2M requests per minute.
• Take ownership of Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) within the product team, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Offer direct and constructive feedback within the team and larger functions. Actively seek feedback from peers to foster personal and team growth.
• Participate in on-call rotation every 5-6 weeks.

About you

• Strong backend engineering skills, with experience in Ruby and Go (or willingness to learn).
• You are familiar with observability practices.
• You are curious and eager to learn new concepts and technologies.
• You have worked with relational and in-memory databases, including MySQL and Redis.
• You effectively balance short-term needs with long-term stability.
• You prioritize the collective success of the team and organization. You actively seek to deepen your expertise, share knowledge, and hold peers accountable to uphold best engineering practices.
• You have excellent communication skills and can collaborate effectively with teams across different domains and non-technical stakeholders.

The salary range for this position is € 4,975 - € 6,725gross per month.
