About the Role

We are looking for product-focused systems engineers to work on Teleport Core Product. You will focus on problems related to application security for Teleport, implement security controls, and work with security researchers to find and fix security vulnerabilities. Teleport is an open core project, and most of the code you will write will be open source and written in Go.

Important information

• You must be a current resident of the UK.
• We require you to be in-person in our Oakland, CA, office for the onboarding week.
• We conduct background and education verification checks.

Responsibilities

• Become an expert on everything related to application security at Teleport.
• Design, develop, and ship outstanding, high-quality products.
• Write most of the code in Go.
• Closely collaborate with other teams at Teleport on matters related to application security.
• Grow your technical expertise.

Requirements

• Willingness to work collaboratively on a coding challenge in Go as part of the interview process (take-home + GitHub collaboration).
• Extensive Go experience.
• Extensive experience developing scalable distributed systems and platforms with a focus on application security.
• Linux systems engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Identity Management, RBAC, ABAC, and zero-trust security models.
• Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to master new technologies.
• Transparency, honesty, and a no-ego mindset.

Nice to have

• Secure design and threat modeling experience.
• Vulnerability research experience.
• Applied cryptography knowledge.
• Significant contributions in Open Source.

How We Hire

Our process is designed to be straightforward and respectful of your time. For this role we use a take-home challenge that mirrors real work at Teleport. Process steps include:

1. Zoom meeting with a Teleport recruiter to learn about the company, compensation philosophy, and process.
2. Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager to walk through the coding challenge.
3. Coding challenge collaboration via GitHub and Slack (usually about 2 weeks) and a review meeting.
4. If your solution meets the bar, you'll receive an offer to join Teleport.
