The Protocol Security team ensures the security of all onchain development at Coinbase, partnering closely with product teams to ensure safe user engagement with the onchain world.

Responsibilities

• Perform threat modeling and security assessments of blockchain products and services.
• Propose, plan, and execute Red Team operations based on realistic threats.
• Write detailed reports on Red Team operation goals, outcomes, significant observations, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with partner teams to improve detection and response capabilities.
• Provide expert technical guidance in building new security frameworks and analysis tools.
• Stay informed on current security trends, advisories, publications, and academic research.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of blockchain security experience.
• 3+ years of Red Team experience with a track record of breaking complex systems using novel techniques.
• Proven ability in identifying critical vulnerabilities across blockchain protocol stack, onchain and offchain.
• Extensive knowledge of blockchain ecosystem including L1, L2 networks, DeFi protocols, native staking.
• Expertise in designing security countermeasures to prevent vulnerabilities.
• Highly motivated for continuous learning in the rapidly evolving crypto space.
• Excellent clear, direct, and kind communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building relationships with product, engineering, and other security teams.

Nice to Haves

• Participation in computer security competitions (CTFs), bug bounty programs, open source security research, CVE analysis.
• Expertise in Application Security, Network Security, Cloud Security.
• 1+ year of Software Engineering experience.
