Details

Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company with more than 20M users of Grafana and customers including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay. The team builds and maintains Grafana Cloud and Grafana OSS, including metrics (Mimir), logs (Loki), and traces (Tempo). This role is focused on building the Interactive Learning Plugin and its content to deliver an in-product, open-source learning experience inside Grafana.

Responsibilities

  • Build delightful interactive learning experiences inside Grafana: ship features that make learning obvious, smooth, and scalable; improve end-to-end learner experience from onboarding to completion.
  • Enable contribution and authoring (including non-engineers): create workflows and product features that let many contributors safely create, iterate on, and improve learning content.
  • Support private guides and experiences.
  • Build trustworthy progress and completion tracking; instrument learning flows to understand what’s working and where learners get stuck.
  • Treat observability as a product principle: build fast feedback loops (metrics/logs/traces + user journey visibility) to keep issues shallow and make production and real user experiences easy to understand.
  • Ship fast with an AI-driven development workflow: work daily with tools like Claude Code or Cursor in an agent-based workflow while applying strong engineering judgment (scoping, iterating, verifying, testing).
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as part of DevOps culture and take end-to-end ownership of services you build.
  • Produce documentation, design notes, PR descriptions, and occasionally demo work or explain decisions to internal/external audiences (~20% of work).

Requirements

  • Strong skills in at least two of the three areas below:
    • AI harness experience (agentic development): experience using tools like Claude Code or Cursor in real development work and an ability to describe a secure, risk-managed workflow (scoping → iterate → validate → test).
    • Serious software engineering fundamentals: ability to ship production-grade changes, reason about architecture, maintainability, correctness, and testing.
    • Grafana context: experience using Grafana in real environments (dashboards, troubleshooting, on-call, monitoring workflows) and familiarity with observability practices.
  • Comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools as part of a secure workflow; paired with code review and quality standards.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and to instrument production for metrics/logs/traces and user journey visibility.
  • Communication skills for documentation and occasional demos.

Bonus Points For

  • Meaningful open source contribution or maintainer experience.
  • Full-stack experience (strong frontend-only or backend-only profiles are also welcome).
  • TypeScript and/or Go experience.
  • Kubernetes familiarity.
  • Experience in the broader observability ecosystem: Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, OpenTelemetry.

Compensation & Rewards

  • In Ireland the base compensation range for this role is EUR 104,000 - EUR 124,800. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset.
  • All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
  • Compensation ranges are country specific; recruiters will discuss market-defined pay ranges for other locations.
