NVIDIA’s invention of the GPU fueled the PC gaming market. The company’s groundbreaking work in accelerated computing—a supercharged form of computing at the intersection of computer graphics, high performance computing and AI—is reshaping industries such as transportation, healthcare and manufacturing. In 2020, NVIDIA acquired Mellanox, a leading supplier of end-to-end Ethernet and InfiniBand intelligent interconnect solutions and services for servers, storage, and hyper-converged infrastructure. We are looking for an excellent Software Engineer to join the NIC Firmware team. The Firmware team develops innovative networking features for cloud, HPC and storage. The team drives the data growth of the world’s biggest companies. With many dedicated engineers around the globe, the work environment is multifaceted, significant and fast paced.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the architecture and different software design teams.
  • Implement new features in the core of Mellanox NIC firmware.
  • Develop verification tests for advanced features in a highly complex and sophisticated firmware testing environment.
  • Gain a deep understanding of system debug, networking technology and stacks, as well as the HW/FW/SW relationship.
  • Learn how a large software project is operated, maintained, qualified and released, and how hardware and firmware are developed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols.
  • Experience with PCIe and virtualization technologies.
  • Excellent grasp of data structures and algorithms fundamentals.
  • Scripting experience with Python and/or Bash.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and a great teammate with excellent interpersonal skills.

Ways to stand out

  • Deep familiarity with RDMA stacks (RoCE, InfiniBand) and low-latency networking.
  • Experience in high-performance or large-scale compute environments.
  • Proven experience with distributed systems and scalability challenges.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranges (will be determined based on location, experience, and pay of employees in similar positions):
    • Level 3: 152,000 USD - 241,500 USD
    • Level 4: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD
  • Eligibility for equity and company benefits.
