We are seeking a Functional Safety Manager to guide safety efforts for developing the next generation of safe, AI-powered autonomous driving systems. In this role, you will focus on solving hard cross-disciplinary problems across AI, computer vision, software architecture, planning and control, software / hardware interactions, and be part of a team that covers the entire autonomous driving system and coordinates development teams across NVIDIA.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of safety engineering processes to meet ISO 26262, ISO 21448 and ISO 8800 standards, with timely safety case completion
- Promote a positive safety culture and deploy organizational processes by providing training, mentoring and tailoring
- Act as the primary point of contact for all safety related concerns during development and actively work to resolve identified issues
- Collaborate with OEM and Tier1 partners to ensure that all aspects of the joint safety engineering development are carried out on time and according to plan
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
- At least 8 years of proven experience in automotive development and integration for safety related systems
- Deep understanding of functional safety and development processes needed to follow the ISO 26262 functional safety standard
- Working knowledge of quality systems and tools, such as Automotive SPICE and IATF 16949
- Application of system safety methodologies & practices, including FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, CPA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong engineering mindset; ability to thrive working in teams and across multiple domains
Ways to stand out
- Experience leading safety management efforts for production of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or autonomous vehicle systems
- Experience in the application of ISO 21488 (SOTIF) in combination with functional safety
- Solid understanding of verification & validation (V&V) of complex safety-critical systems
- Software development and/or machine learning experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range (by level):
- Level 4: 168,000 USD - 258,750 USD
- Level 5: 200,000 USD - 322,000 USD
