Details

Do you enjoy hacking and tinkering at the lowest levels of software? Are you capable of crafting and implementing creative solutions in heavily resource-constrained environments? Join the GPU Firmware team to design and implement display firmware for GPUs that drive HDMI, DisplayPort (DP), and eDP displays. Work on firmware with tight constraints (security, boot-time, storage) and collaborate with hardware, software, infrastructure, and business teams to bring display features from idea to reality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and optimize GPU firmware throughout the GPU lifecycle
  • Implement industry-standard display technologies, including HDMI, DP, eDP, and the UEFI Graphics Output Protocol
  • Work closely with hardware, software, infrastructure, and business teams to transform new display features from idea to reality
  • Collaborate with leading OS and PC vendors to improve and innovate on the startup experience
  • Create, document, and automate workflows, processes, and tooling for internal and external projects

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of meaningful experience
  • Experience with display technologies such as HDMI, DisplayPort (DP), and eDP
  • Strong background in UEFI firmware development (including Graphics Output Protocol)
  • In-depth understanding of PC notebook and desktop architecture
  • Strong grasp of software development lifecycle and coding best practices
  • Strong skills in C and Python, plus scripting experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work closely with hardware designers and software engineers

Ways to stand out

  • Background with display protocol analyzers
  • Experience developing device BIOS, firmware, or other low-level software
  • Familiarity with x86 and VGA assembly programming
  • Experience with OS user-mode and kernel-mode drivers
  • Passion for optimizing and mentoring others

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary ranges (location and level dependent):
    • Level 3: 152,000 USD - 241,500 USD per year
    • Level 4: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD per year
  • Eligible for equity and company benefits (link to NVIDIA benefits referenced in original posting)
