Team

The Global Corporate Technology Group is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting Bloomberg’s enterprise IT systems used by nearly 21,000 employees in more than 170 offices worldwide. The Server & Storage Engineering team drives compute and storage needs for internal Bloomberg businesses, managing storage infrastructure and physical & virtual server platforms across datacenters, corporate locations and remote offices. The team engineers infrastructure from availability, capacity and security perspectives and maintains systems with tools such as OneView, Grafana, Orion, vCenter, LogInsight, NetApp OCUM, Insight IQ and Splunk.

Role / Responsibilities

  • Automate provisioning, deployment, scaling and monitoring of compute and storage infrastructure platforms.
  • Develop and maintain software tools to manage large-scale, multi-vendor compute and storage platforms with emphasis on automation, telemetry and model-driven Infrastructure as Code.
  • Automate full platform lifecycle: provisioning, configuration, observability, testing, troubleshooting and capacity planning.
  • Write software utilizing orchestration systems to automate tasks and interact with other systems.
  • Implement innovative technologies, automate workflows and build CI/CD automation pipelines.
  • Practice and promote a modern software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, Developers and Operations to improve automation and deployment solutions for corporate infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with an object-oriented programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in infrastructure automation or orchestration frameworks (examples: Ansible, Airflow, Terraform, Chef, Salt).
  • Experience building tools that automate and integrate with REST APIs and traditional IT infrastructure components (virtualization, server, storage).
  • Strong familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (examples: Jenkins, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and IaC automation tools such as Terraform or Puppet.
  • Experience driving full software creation process and ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Ability to collaborate across stakeholders and teams.

  • Understanding of Linux internals.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, network administration and network security.
  • General experience with relational databases.
  • Experience working with GIT or other code repositories.
  • Knowledge of storage protocols, storage administration and storage security.
  • Experience implementing or working with server virtualization and storage infrastructure.
  • Understanding security fundamentals and standard methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: 130,000 - 225,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
