NVIDIA seeks a systems software manager to lead a team developing the boot software and firmware that powers NVIDIA GPUs. The role focuses on designing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining GPU firmware under aggressive schedules and tight resource constraints. The team’s mission includes securing and innovating the GPU boot process where storage and boot-time constraints are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to develop, debug, and maintain GPU firmware throughout the NVIDIA GPU lifecycle.
  • Drive execution of GPU firmware for multiple consumer product lines with aggressive schedules.
  • Define firmware feature roadmaps to align with hardware and industry specification advancements.
  • Provide direction for design and implementation of creative solutions for boot software.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and business teams to transform new firmware features from idea to reality.
  • Work with OS and PC vendors to improve and innovate the startup experience.
  • Improve team software processes and core infrastructure (build systems, regression farms).
  • Continuously evaluate and improve security for firmware that functions as a root of trust.

Requirements

  • 12+ years overall experience in the software industry.
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience leading teams developing device BIOS, firmware, or other low-level software.
  • Strong C programming skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of software process; experience collaborating closely with hardware designers and other software engineers/managers.

Ways to stand out

  • Examples of customer-facing system software features that you drove to completion.
  • Knowledge of PC architecture including PCI/PCIe and display technologies such as DisplayPort (DP) and HDMI.
  • Experience developing for UEFI environments.
  • Experience working on datacenter software.
  • Demonstrated passion for the work.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary ranges provided by location and level:
    • Level 4: 272,000 USD - 431,250 USD
    • Level 5: 320,000 USD - 488,750 USD
