Details

NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. Today NVIDIA is tapping into the potential of AI to define the next era of computing. OpenShell is developing runtime infrastructure for secure, scalable, and production-ready AI agents. As a manager for OpenShell engineering, you will guide a team that integrates recent progress in agentic systems into the runtime, tools, and workflows trusted by enterprise developers. This team exists where research, product, and engineering converge. Your responsibility is to define direction, improve technical standards, and ensure the team consistently transforms promising methods from academia, industry, and NVIDIA research into useful OpenShell capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team focused on agentic systems and OpenShell runtime capabilities.
  • Define the team's technical strategy, research agenda, and product-facing priorities in partnership with engineering, product, development, research, solutions, and developer-facing teams.
  • Track major developments in agent research, internal NVIDIA work, public projects, and industry systems to identify ideas that matter for OpenShell.
  • Guide the team in reproducing, adapting, benchmarking, and productizing promising research methods.
  • Ensure development of high-quality proof-of-concepts (POCs), evaluation harnesses, red-team workflows, reference implementations, and product-ready solutions.
  • Build operating rhythms for research review, prioritization, technical decision-making, experimentation, and roadmap influence.
  • Partner with product and engineering leaders to move validated ideas into shipped OpenShell capabilities.
  • Contribute to defining secure, scalable, production-quality agent runtime infrastructure for enterprise builders.
  • Mentor team members on technical investigation, communication, engineering rigor, product sense, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a team with strong research engineering instincts and a bias toward shipping.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • 4+ years of leadership and management experience.
  • Experience leading research engineering, applied science, ML engineering, AI infrastructure, developer tooling, or advanced product engineering teams.
  • Strong technical judgment across LLMs, agentic systems, evaluation, runtime infrastructure, inference systems, or AI safety/security.
  • Track record turning research or emerging technical methods into products, platforms, tools, benchmarks, or production systems at scale.
  • Ability to set a clear technical direction in ambiguous, fast-paced areas.
  • Strong product sense and ability to connect research opportunities to customer needs, developer workflows, and product strategy.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or researchers who operate across research, product, and production engineering boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to synthesize complex technical topics and align collaborators, and strong execution instincts to balance exploration with delivery.

Compensation & Other Details

  • Base salary range: 272,000 USD - 431,250 USD (determined based on location, experience, and pay of employees in similar positions).
  • Eligible for equity and benefits (link to NVIDIA benefits provided in the original posting).
  • Applications accepted at least until May 18, 2026. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
  • NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes and is an equal opportunity employer.
