Details

Eneco is integrating renewable generation, flexible assets, and new ways of balancing supply and demand. As energy markets become more volatile and interconnected, Eneco's Energy Trading function manages market exposure, optimises asset portfolios, and ensures reliable trading across power, gas, and certificate markets. The systems and processes behind this — the ETRM landscape — must keep pace with rapid trade growth, increasing automation, and evolving European regulation.

As Senior Product Manager Energy Trading you will take strategic ownership of the products and platforms that power Eneco’s trading operations, reshaping a complex vendor-driven landscape, improving delivery effectiveness, and ensuring trading infrastructure supports the next phase of growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the trade lifecycle end-to-end: product ownership of trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and position management. Ensure systems reflect traders' workflows and deliver accurate positions; take incident ownership when trading positions or settlement figures are incorrect.
  • Drive market connectivity: own integration product surface for exchanges, TSOs, brokers, and price curve providers; define incoming data, validation rules, and downstream flows into settlement and reporting.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance features: ensure REMIT, EMIR, and MiFID II obligations are first-class requirements and maintain a compliance roadmap aligned with European regulatory calendars.
  • Run the vendor relationship: work with primarily vendor products and remote vendor teams to drive roadmap alignment, change request prioritisation, upgrade planning, and decide when to extend versus build.
  • Shape the roadmap for growth: reshape the trading domain to support trade volume growth, auto trading expansion, product innovation, phase out legacy systems, and oversee quarterly planning across the portfolio.
  • Coordinate across stakeholders: align Trading, Risk, Finance, and Engineering leadership around shared priorities and deliver strategic value from trading technology investments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or a consulting/delivery hybrid in complex, vendor-driven technology environments.
  • Ability to quickly build understanding of energy trading processes: trade capture, position management, settlement, and market connectivity.
  • Proven ability to manage large vendor-driven initiatives: roadmap negotiation, change request prioritisation, upgrade planning, and steerco-driven initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with remote and distributed teams.
  • Comfortable with incident ownership and working under pressure when trading operations are at stake.
  • Energy sector experience is a strong plus, but not required if you bring domain curiosity and delivery rigour.

Where you’ll work

You will be part of Eneco’s Tech & Digital organisation, working cross-functionally with Trading, Risk, Settlement, and Engineering teams. The role is based in Rotterdam (Eneco’s digital organisation). Hybrid working is supported: work 40% at the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly. With manager approval, you may work abroad (within approved countries) up to 3 weeks/year, max 2 consecutively.

What we have to offer

  • Gross annual salary between €100.000 and €135.000 (including FlexBudget and 8% holiday allowance; depending on role a bonus or collective profit sharing may apply).
  • FlexBudget (pay out, buy extra holiday days, or save).
  • Personal and professional development support.
  • Hybrid working arrangement as described above.
