Universal KYC (UKYC) is an initiative to create a single, reusable identity layer across MetaMask. At the centre of this is MetaMask Passport, a product designed to enable users to verify once and unlock multiple experiences across the MetaMask ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of platform and product experience: defining primitives, standards, and user journeys that make identity verification seamless, privacy-conscious, and globally compliant.
Responsibilities
- Own the vision and roadmap for Universal KYC and MetaMask Passport, defining how a reusable identity layer unlocks the broader MetaMask product stack.
- Build the underlying identity platform, creating scalable verification primitives and standards that can be adopted across products.
- Design a seamless, low-friction KYC experience that reduces time-to-first-transaction while maintaining compliance integrity.
- Drive adoption across MetaMask by partnering closely with internal teams to integrate a consistent identity layer, balancing privacy, trust, and global regulatory requirements.
- Lead execution end-to-end, aligning cross-functional teams and delivering measurable outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience building or scaling identity verification (IDV), KYC, or onboarding products.
- Strong background in fintech, ideally with exposure to Web3.
- Hands-on experience working with identity verification providers (IDV vendors) such as Sumsub, Veriff, Onfido, Persona, or Stripe Identity.
- Familiarity with compliance workflows, including KYC, KYB, and customer due diligence (CDD) processes.
- Track record of delivering platform products adopted across multiple teams.
- Ability to operate across both technical systems and user experience.
- Attributes noted: first-principles thinker, deep user empathy, strong understanding of trust/privacy/compliance trade-offs, clear communicator, high ownership, ability to operate in ambiguity.

Compensation
- US pay range (not including bonus, equity or other benefits): $130,000—$187,000 USD (for US-based candidates).
