Our mission is to redefine how professionals engage with their most important communications—cutting through noise with intelligent context, effortless access, and powerful discovery. We envision a future where every message is surfaced with clarity and purpose, enabling faster decisions and deeper understanding.
The current Product focus is the Instant Bloomberg (IB) Feed, a real-time aggregation view across messages in chatrooms, allowing clients to engage with various conversations simultaneously, with customizable filtering and integrations with other IB workflows. This feature is actively used by the majority of users across the Bloomberg Terminal.
We are re-architecting the IB Feed to support future product innovations. The core architecture is powered by open-source technologies such as Apache Kafka, Solr and Cassandra, in conjunction with a lightweight UI application layer. This is a full-stack effort with many opportunities to drive impactful technical decisions. The team is also improving Feed usability and extending content discovery offerings to provide a seamless, cross-platform experience integrated with Mobile and Web clients and other Terminal applications.
By joining the team you will work on the instant messaging application used by financial professionals and contribute to a cornerstone product in the Bloomberg Terminal ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Re-architect and evolve the Instant Bloomberg (IB) Feed.
- Work across the full stack (backend services, streaming, search, and lightweight UI application layer).
- Integrate Feed features with Mobile and Web clients and other Terminal applications.
- Make architectural and technical decisions to support future product innovations.
- Improve usability and enable clients to tailor the Feed to their workflows.
Requirements
- 4+ years working experience with Java, C++ and TypeScript.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.
- High degree of collaboration within the team and with stakeholders.
- Experience in distributed systems and architecture design.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Experience with search technologies, notably Apache Solr or ElasticSearch.
- Experience building real-time messaging/streaming systems, notably Apache Kafka.
- Familiarity with Cassandra as part of distributed architectures.
- Strong sense of ownership and a passion for building user-centered products.
- Desire to continuously grow in areas such as architecture, testing, and developer experience.
Benefits
- Salary Range: 160000 - 240000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus.
