Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic FinOps roadmap aligned with long-term objectives and industry-standard frameworks.
• Engage with senior leadership to promote a culture of cost accountability and efficiency.
• Transition new FinOps practices from idea to business as usual (BAU) ensuring sustainable progress.
• Reframe financial strategies focusing on proactive and sustainable cost efficiency.
• Leverage FinOps “Shift-Left” ideology to deliver granular KPI programs tracking unit economics and pushing cost accountability to product level.
• Implement and manage total cost of ownership models using internal and external tools.
• Facilitate cloud cost attribution to product owners and develop chargeback models.
• Review cost targets regularly and provide insights to support decision-making.
• Drive strategic partnerships with vendors, influencing roadmaps.
• Identify optimization opportunities and ensure continuous vendor improvements.
• Enhance financial reporting processes to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, and Sourcing to streamline purchases and resolve billing disputes.
• Establish policies, controls, and governance for cloud use aligning with business objectives and compliance.
• Partner with engineering to ensure cost-aware, efficient cloud solutions achieving performance and scalability goals.
• Represent Coinbase’s FinOps achievements in industry forums.
• Mentor and onboard new team members expanding the FinOps talent pool.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Cloud Financial Management (CFM) or related fields.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and drive cultural change.
• Experience with cloud cost management tools and methodologies.
• Excellent financial acumen and vendor relationship management.
• Strategic thinker with track record in cost optimization program development and execution.

Nice to Haves

• FinOps certifications or strong community presence (FinOps Foundation, AWS, etc.).
• Proficiency in analyzing financial data and generating cost insights.
• Effective communication skills for engaging cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
