Airbnb was born in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 4 million Hosts who have welcomed more than 1 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, Hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community You Will Join
Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where people can Belong Anywhere. Our community of guests and hosts rely on Airbnb around the clock to facilitate millions of seamless stays and unique experiences per day. As we prepare for the once-in-a-lifetime travel rebound, we’re looking for experienced engineers to help build our next generation technology stack.
The Observability team’s mission is to provide Airbnb engineers the ability to easily gain insights into system behavior in a complex, rapidly-evolving, distributed environment, and leverage the insight to deliver a highly available and performant service to Airbnb hosts, guests, and other stakeholders.
The Difference You Will Make
We are building our next generation Observability platform on top of industry standard, open-source frameworks. We aim to unify the processes and tools to collect, process, store, and analyze large volumes of telemetry data in real time. The quality of Observability tools available to our engineers will impact their ability to easily identify anomalous system behavior, quickly debug and diagnose the root cause of failures, and achieve high operational excellence.

- Automated correlation and anomaly detection
- Site performance tracking and management
- Building robust distributed systems that can be depended on to troubleshoot our production system
- Building high-leverage tools for other engineers at Airbnb
- Great communication skills and eagerness to learn and share knowledge within the engineering organization
