Details

The Real Time Media Platform team is building the next-generation media platform for the Bloomberg Terminal. The team focuses on integrating real-time audio, video, and telephony into core financial workflows using open VoIP and VideoOverIP standards (SIP, WebRTC) and both open-source and proprietary media engines. Work includes low-latency multimedia, scale, resiliency, and compliance for enterprise-grade media services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance real-time multimedia infrastructure (voice, video, telephony).
  • Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend services for media platforms.
  • Implement standard-based, interoperable, enterprise-quality media services.
  • Collaborate with application teams, product, UX researchers, network, and other engineering teams.
  • Research and prototype innovations in real-time media, low-latency transport, recording, speech-to-text, and streaming.
  • Contribute to open-source projects and integrate open-source technologies where appropriate.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with C++.
  • Strong experience with network programming and data transfer protocols.
  • Experience with real-time systems and low-latency media development.
  • Experience working with SIP, WebRTC, or similar real-time media frameworks and protocols/standards.
  • Familiarity with open-source real-time media stacks such as Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and Kamailio.
  • Strong problem-solving and system design skills.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building enterprise-grade real-time communication systems (voice and video).
  • Experience with distributed computing and networked telephony systems.
  • Familiarity with SRTP, XMPP, Matrix, media formats (MP4, WebM), and codecs (VP8, VP9, Opus).
  • Contributions to open-source real-time media projects.
  • Interest or experience in adjacent areas such as recording, speech-to-text, streaming, and computer vision.
  • Team-player attitude and strong commitment to delivery and quality.

Salary

  • Range: 160000 - 240000 USD annually (plus benefits and bonus). The referenced range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting and actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, education, and skill level.
