Details
Coinbase's mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. The Consumer Trading team builds the fastest, easiest, and most trusted crypto trading platform globally. This role is focused on IntX and will collaborate with the US Trading team to define and deliver Coinbase's next-generation trading system for IntX. The position is remote-first for candidates in Singapore but requires in-person participation throughout the year (team and company-wide offsites). The team values high ownership, strong technical depth, long-term thinking, and engineers who can drive clarity in ambiguity and raise the bar in engineering and product excellence.
Responsibilities
- Drive the technical vision and execution of complex, multi-quarter projects across multiple engineering teams.
- Lead the design and development of mission-critical trading systems, including order management, execution engines, and reliability infrastructure.
- Partner with Product Management, Design, and other functions to align product strategy with long-term technical bets and roadmap.
- Deeply understand and influence the trading stack and product roadmap; identify strategic technical initiatives.
- Mentor and coach engineers across various levels; foster growth and develop the next generation of trading and infrastructure leaders.
- Elevate engineering quality and promote best practices through design reviews, code review guidance, and process improvements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping large-scale distributed systems, including significant leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in trading systems (traditional or crypto), with hands-on experience and strategic oversight in areas like order management, execution algorithms, market data, or risk management.
- Customer-obsessed with strong product intuition to guide technical decision-making and strategic planning.
- Proven ability to lead and drive complex initiatives across organizational boundaries, influence stakeholders, and achieve consensus.
- Strong mentoring skills and passion for building high-performing teams.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-stakes, high-velocity environments, providing clear direction and stability.
- High bar for quality, correctness, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrates ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (example tools cited: LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) with human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs.
Nice to haves
- Prior experience building complicated trading systems.
- Experience in financial markets (equities, FX, or crypto).
- Familiarity with regulated environments and designing for compliance and auditability.
- Experience working with Go or other performant backend languages.
- Contributions to open source or trading protocols.
Compensation
- Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): SGD 191,100 — SGD 191,100. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
