We’re looking to hire a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join one of our teams within the Platform Product Group. The Platform Product Group’s mission is to build a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform to maximize velocity, efficiency and quality. They build the foundations that can be used by multiple products and teams at Coinbase so that users can have a consistent and high-quality experience.

About the team:

FinHub is at the core of Coinbase, processing and recording fund movements for our clients and our business. We are responsible for processing transactions across crypto, fiat, and internal wallet, and managing the assets for our users, including providing portfolio performance and user tax optimizations. With rapid growth of the industry and the company, our scale and complexity of operations quickly surpassed the original design of typical ledgering systems. Currently, we are taking on a challenge to unlock the next level of evolution for fund movements architecture. This is a unique opportunity to redesign foundational systems that will set Coinbase up for success in the next decade.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Design and implement next generation core FinTech systems that power Coinbase
• Interact with stakeholders in many different organizations that build Coinbase products or are responsible for financial operations
• Participate in shaping the strategy and execution path of FinHub
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Write high quality, well-tested code to meet the needs of your customers.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

• 12+ years of experience in backend software engineering using Golang or similar languages
• Domain expertise in FinTech and/or trading
• Proven track record of delivering impactful solutions that power significant fund flows
• You’ve designed, built, scaled and maintained high throughput and low latency production services
• You’ve experience in architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• Strong technical knowledge of building distributed systems that process massive scale
• Solid communication skills, ability to communicate to stakeholders with various technical and non-technical backgrounds
• Relentless drive to set and perseverance to achieve ambitious goals
• Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together.

Nice to haves:

• Practical experience of building ledgering or trading systems at large scale
• Experience both in startups and large enterprises
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
