Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Direct involvement with deploying and operating networks within critical production environments.
- Proficiency with multiple vendor operating systems (Arista, Juniper, Cisco)
- Network automation experience with Python
- 5+ years of experience with global backbone and edge networks
- Management and expansion of network interconnections with IP Transit vendors, CDN companies, IXP networks, etc. in our points of presence (PoPs) around the world
- Coordinate and deliver peering expansions for quick turnaround of capacity augmentation
- Establish and maintain relationship with peers through initial activations, upgrades, expansions, reconfigurations and terminations
- Establish peering strategy to provide low latency and high-speed internet access
- Peering monitoring and capacity planning for future growth and failure scenarios
- Define and execute strategies to localize traffic in our PoPs and optimize costs
- Support internet numbering administration public (i.e. addressing with RIRs, autonomous system numbers)
Requirements
- B.S. in network engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- Proficient level understanding and hands-on experience with large-scale networking, including platforms, topologies, and routing protocols such as BGP, IS-IS and MPLS-TE++
- Track record of practical problem solving, excellent communication, and documentation skills.
- Expert knowledge of large backbone networks, peering and transit with advanced traffic engineering.
- Understanding of unix/linux shells and scripting languages (python preferred)
- Ability to learn new networking protocols, programming/scripting languages, and vendor operating systems as necessary.
